College Soccer Recruiting Process & Timeline

Understanding the key phases and milestones in the college recruiting journey

1

Early High School (9th–10th Grade)

Focus on development and building a strong foundation. This is the time to establish good habits, work on technical skills, and begin thinking about your academic goals. Start researching colleges and understanding different division levels.

2

Building a Profile and Highlight Reel

Create a comprehensive player profile with academic information, soccer resume, and key statistics. Begin compiling footage for your highlight reel. This is your first impression with coaches, so quality matters.

3

Camps, Showcases, and ID Events

Attend college camps and ID events to get in front of coaches. These events are crucial for exposure and allow coaches to evaluate you in person. Research which events align with your target schools.

4

Outreach to Coaches

Begin reaching out to coaches at your target schools. This includes sending introductory emails, sharing your highlight reel, and following up appropriately. Building relationships early is key.

5

Visits and Decision/Commitment

Schedule official and unofficial visits to campuses. Meet with coaches, players, and academic advisors. Evaluate each program based on soccer, academics, and overall fit. Make your decision and commit when ready.
